Unvented hot water cylinders

Hot Water Cylinders

There are two main types of hot water cylinder. The traditional copper Vented Cylinder (normally in the airing cupboard) and the new Unvented Hot Water Cylinder.

Unvented hot water cylinders, such as the Worcester Greenstore, offer significant improvements over traditional vented cylinders. Other brands include Telford, Heatrae Sadia, Gledhill, Ariston, Megaflo, Therma or Kingspan,

With unvented cylinders, hot water is supplied at mains pressure for powerful showers and fast bath filling. Unvented cylinders are highly insulated, giving high performance, fast reheat times, provide the hot water you need quickly and significant energy savings over traditional cylinders.

Unvented cylinders are also more hygienic as there is no stored cold water in the loft space, this also helps reduce the risk of freezing/flooding.

The Worcester Greenstore unvented cylinder currently (as of August 2018) comes with a 25-year guarantee *Worcester terms apply.

Unvented hot water cylinders must be installed, serviced or repaired by a competent and qualified G3 engineer; this is a legal requirement in the UK. New installations must be notified to local building control. Shepley Heating and Plumbing are G3 qualified and registered.

Your unvented cylinder should be serviced yearly, often at the same time as your boiler.
